About Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal

Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal is in West Vancouver at the western end of Highway 1, roughly 20 km from downtown Vancouver, where Howe Sound meets the Sea to Sky corridor. It serves three separate destinations: Departure Bay in Nanaimo, Langdale on the Sunshine Coast, and Snug Cove on Bowen Island.

The terminal is hemmed in by the village of Horseshoe Bay and has very little holding capacity for three routes' worth of traffic. When sailings back up, the queue spills onto Highway 1 itself — the traffic tower cameras above are the fastest way to see whether that is happening right now.
