About Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal

Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal is at the northern tip of the Saanich Peninsula in North Saanich, about 32 km north of downtown Victoria at the end of Highway 17. It is the main Vancouver Island terminal for sailings to Tsawwassen and the Southern Gulf Islands.

Because a single road serves the terminal, congestion here is very visible: when sailings to Tsawwassen fill up, traffic queues through the toll plaza and back toward the highway. Sunday afternoons and the Monday of a long weekend are the reliable pinch points.
